Hello My Name Is...

Liz Phillips

Welcome to Guthridge School!

This is a great school and a fantastic place to work!

I was born right here in Parsons, and have lived here all my life. My four children are adults with families. I’m a proud “Grammy” of two girls and a boy.  I’m very lucky because they all live in Parsons and I get to spend a lot of time with them. We like to go camping, swimming, and boating together.

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher.  I love teaching. I have taught 25 years in several grade levels. Many things have changed throughout my career, except for  the expressions on a student’s face when they finally understand something.

I graduated from Pittsburg State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Community College Teaching.

GO GORILLAS!

My favorite subjects to teach are math and reading.

I expect my students to treat everyone with respect.

I always remind my students that they are responsible for their learning, and to be successful they have to put forth effort, have a good attitude, and learn from their mistakes.

I strongly encourage parents to get involved in their child’s education at home and in the classroom. Parents are always welcome!
